Son of Bassplaying.com

This is Son of Bassplaying.com. It is, essentially, a beta and testing ground for what might or might not end up being a new version of bassplaying.com (BPing, for short). It also might end up being a failed experiment, but let’s accentuate the positive, at least for the moment.

This is a radical departure, in terms of platform, as BPing runs on Drupal and Son of BPing runs on Wordpress + BuddyPress. To date, I haven’t found any scripts for migrating from one platform to the other. So, I’m inviting all of you existing BPing members, and anyone new to the party, to create an account here. So, if you’re an old-schooler, sign up now and nab your username (keep it the same as your BPing username, if you don’t mind).

I’m interested in this new platform because Drupal, while amazing in its sheer power, is a beast to configure and upgrade. It can do practically anything, so long as you have the time to invest in fiddling with it. As I use WordPress to maintain several blogs, including wheatblog.com and jamesnotjim.com, I’m really hoping that the WP developer community can bring the ease of use and maintenance (and, honestly style) of WP to a true community/social networking site.
